Bob Nelson
Comedy Legend, Actor, & Master of Characters
With a career spanning decades of iconic stand-up, television, and film, Bob Nelson is a true heavyweight of American comedy.
The Dangerfield Era: Bob spent eight years as the headline opening act for the legendary Rodney Dangerfield at the height of his career. He famously appeared alongside comedy icons like Roseanne Barr and Sam Kinison in two of Dangerfield’s mega-hit HBO showcases, which paved the way for his own ground-breaking, star-making HBO special, Nelson Schmelson. Along the way, he also picked up an Emmy Award in Philadelphia for a children’s television show he wrote and starred in.
On the Silver Screen: Fans recognize Bob from his memorable supporting and starring film roles, including Nora Ephron's directorial debut This Is My Life (alongside Julie Kavner), Ivan Reitman’s blockbuster comedy Kindergarten Cop (starring Arnold Schwarzenegger), and the Zucker brothers' wild comedy Brain Donors.
Live Theater & Current Ventures: After successful, long-running runs headlining his own shows in Branson, Missouri, and operating the Bob Nelson Family Theatre in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, this proud New Yorker has returned home. Bob is currently performing monthly at Theatre Three in Port Jefferson, New York, with his hit show Bob Nelson and Friends, while continuing to build out new live shows, television projects, and creative digital ventures across Long Island.
